Established in 2004, the Toxicology Reference Laboratory (TRL) is the only tertiary clinical toxicology laboratory in Hong Kong. The laboratory is staffed by a multidisciplinary team of doctors, scientists, and medical technologists led by the consultant chemical pathologist.

In addition to analysis of rare toxins and confirmatory services for toxicology laboratories, the TRL also provides advisory and consultation services for patients with complex toxicology problems. TRL is an accredited medical testing laboratory under ISO 15189 and is a training centre accredited by The Hong Kong College of Pathologists.
